Terms and Conditions

The placement of an order implies acceptance of the following terms and conditions.

Sale Terms

Work should be accompanied by an official order form or purchase order and signed by an authorized person. Work carried out, whether preliminary, experimentally or otherwise, at the customer's request, will be charged accordingly. A 50% of the total fee will be charged to you upon submission of your order. The remainder of the costs, including shipping and handling, will be charged to you upon approval of the final proof which will be payable in order to ensure commencement of the task. Acceptance of orders is subject to credit approval. No work will proceed on printing until payment is made. No refunds are given once your order has been printed.

Refund & Cancellation

All sales are final. No refunds are available for the initial 50% processing fee (if the order is cancelled within 24 hours of placement then a full refund is possible). Cancellations are accepted in writing up until we receive the final approved proof. Cancellations after proof approval will result in your incurring any charges for labor and materials up to the point when we received your written notification. If the job is already printed by this time, you are liable for the full cost.

I.T.S reserves the right to add 5% per week to overdue accounts.

Turnaround Times

Orders placed after 10 am CST on any business day will begin production the following business day. This is true for file preflighting, proofs, corrections and printing. Orders placed on Saturday or Sunday will be processed on Monday.

Turnaround time begins with the receipt of your files, either electronically or on a disc. In the event that production schedules are not adhered to by the customer, delivery dates will change. We generally preflight files for new projects and produce a proof within 2-3 business days of receipt of the order. If there is a problem with your files or missing components, we will contact you immediately. We ship the proof via overnight delivery service. If corrections are needed and another proof is requested, that will take place within 2-3 business days after receiving your proof. Once you approve a final proof, printing will proceed in accordance with the production schedule agreed upon in your quote.

Quotations

A Custom quotation not accepted within 30 days may be changed. Prices on standard products on this Web site are subject to change at any time.

Accuracy of Specifications

Quotations are based on the accuracy of the specifications provided. I.T.S must have the fullest details of a request to ensure an accurate quotation. I.T.S can re-quote a job at the time of file submission if the files, or other input materials do not conform to the original information on which the quote was based.

Preparatory Materials

All files, provided electronically or on disc, will be returned to you upon completion of the printing project. We do not retain any files on behalf of our customers. Please be sure to keep files and job number in a safe place if you expect to reprint the job in the future.

Storage

I.T.S retains intermediate materials until the project has been printed and accepted by the customer. I.T.S is not responsible for any loss or damage to stored matter beyond what is recoverable by I.T.S's fire and extended insurance policy.

Delays or Missed Deadlines

I.T.S is not responsible for delays caused by fire, water, strikes, theft, vandalism, war, riot, civil disorder, accidents, action of government or civil authority, acts of God and other causes beyond our control. We also assume no responsibility for delays caused by delivery carriers or any damages resulting from the failure to receive a job on time. Our expected delivery date is not guaranteed, although we rarely miss a due date. An order may arrive late due to unforeseen delays in delivery service, the breakdown of equipment, strikes, illnesses, etc.

Delivery

Delivery is quoted for a single shipment, without storage, F.O.B. the customer's premises according to the shipping information supplied by the customer.

Customer Responsibilities

Customers are 100% responsible for the accuracy of their layouts and are encouraged to proof each job carefully. Customers are also 100% responsible for compliance with postal regulations and current mailing restrictions associated with postcards and mailers.

Electronic Manuscript or Image

It is the customer's responsibility to maintain a copy of the original file. I.T.S is not responsible for accidental damage to media supplied by the customer or for the accuracy of furnished final output. Until digital input can be evaluated by I.T.S, no claims or promises about our ability to work with jobs submitted in digital format, and no liability is applicable to problems that may arise.

Alterations/Corrections

Any additional translating, editing or programming needed on customer-supplied files can be completed by the customer or I.T.S will make the corrections at additional cost ($45/hour). I.T.S will preflight all digital files received from the customer to determine if they are print ready. This activity falls under the initial 50% processing fee, which is not refundable. If corrections are needed, we will contact you immediately and give you the option of making the changes and sending us new files or having us make the changes.

Color Variations from the Proof

Because of differences in equipment, paper, inks and other conditions between color proofing and production pressroom operations, a reasonable variation in color between color proofs and the completed job is expected. When variations of this kind occur, it will be considered acceptable performance.

I.T.S prints every project in keeping with "pleasing color" standards for the printing industry. I.T.S makes no guarantee that the color you see on your computer monitor or your color printer will approximate your finished piece printed via the CMYK process. Wide variation in color spaces, technologies and calibrations of different monitors and printers may preclude an exact match. Unless clearly specified, printing compositions will be at the discretion of I.T.S whose decision will be final

Galley Proofs

I.T.S will submit galley proofs to the customer for review in accordance with their order - either an electronic proof or hard copy proof. Customer corrections are to be returned to us as a master set marked "OK," "OK with Corrections" or "Revised Proof Required" and signed by the customer. Until the master set is received, no additional work will be performed on the project. I.T.S is not responsible for undetected production errors if:

  • Proofs are not required by the customer.
  • The work is printed per the customer's signed OK.
  • Requests for changes are communicated orally.

Special Inks

Inks such as metallics or fluorescents are specialty inks that cost more money. Customers will incur an upcharge for use of these inks on Custom projects.

Sales Tax

All orders are subject to sales tax. If a customer is tax exempt, a copy of the exemption certificate must be sent or faxed to us with the first job ordered.

Satisfaction Guarantee

I.T.S is committed to delivering quality printing in accordance with Industry Standards. Therefore, we guarantee that if your job has defects in workmanship or materials within our control or if we fail to follow your written instructions, we will reprint the job at our expense upon receipt of returned merchandise.

This guarantee does not apply to errors in customer-supplied digital files, including, but not limited to, poor or low resolution photographs, improper color model, missing fonts, defective file formats, incorrect copy or corrections that were not noted on your proof approval form. While we do strive to assure "pleasing color" standards, we cannot guarantee the printed piece will exactly match the colors on your screen or printer.

If you feel your final printed job does not meet your specifications and that the error is due to a defection workmanship or materials, you must notify I.T.S in writing within 10 business days of receipt of the printed pieces.

Liability

1. Disclaimer of Express Warranties: Customer warrants that the work is as described in the order specifications. The customer understands that all sketches, copy, dummies and preparatory work shown to the customer are intended only to illustrate the general type and quality of the work. They are not intended to represent the actual work performed.

2. Disclaimer of Implied Warranties: I.T.S warrants only that the work conforms to the description submitted with the order. I.T.S's maximum liability, whether by negligence, contract or otherwise, does not exceed the return of the amount invoiced for the work in dispute. Under no circumstances is I.T.S liable for specific, individual or consequential damages.

Indemnity

Customers agree to indemnify and hold I.T.S, its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, co-branders, vendors, partners, employees or assigns harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorney's fees, made by a third party due to or arising out of content submitted, posted or transmitted through I.T.S, customer violation of the terms and conditions detailed here, or customer violation of the rights of a third party.

Copyright Infringement

The customer warrants that the subject matter to be reprinted is not copyrighted by a third party. Customers also recognize that because subject matter does not have to bear a copyright notice in order to be protected by copyright law, absence of such notice does not necessarily assure a right to reproduce. Customers further warrant that no copyright notice has been removed from any material used in preparing the subject matter for reproduction. To support these warranties, customers agree to indemnify and hold I.T.S harmless for all liability, damages and attorney's fees that may be incurred if any legal action connected with copyright infringement involving the work produced or provided.

Customers also warrant that the work does not contain anything that is libelous or scandalous, or anything that threatens anyone's right to privacy or their personal or economic rights. Customers will, at their sole expense, promptly and thoroughly defend I.T.S in all legal actions on these grounds as long as I.T.S notifies customers of legal action and gives the customer reasonable time to undertake and conduct defense. I.T.S reserves the right to use its discretion in refusing to print anything that it deems illegal, libelous, scandalous, improper or infringing upon copyright law.

  • Can I order 2-color printing from you??
    We suggest you get the best value for your dollar and go for full color, instead of two-color!

    Nonetheless, you may use any of our product pages (with the exception of postcards, business cards, presentation folders, catalogs and calendars) to order two-color printing. Simply place your order as usual, then specify in the comments section that it's a two-color job and what PMS colors you have selected. Since we are so efficient at producing high-quality four-color work, two-color pieces will be priced the same as four-color pieces. Two-color postcards, business cards, presentation folders, catalogs and calendars will generally be converted to four-color process equivalents before printing. If you need to produce 2-color business cards or postcards using spot inks, you can request a quote.
  • Can you print jobs that are different than the standard formats that you offer?
    Yes. Request a quote on any job that doesn't fit our standard formats with complete job specifications.
  • Is there an extra charge for bleeds?
    No. Unlike many other companies, all our prices include full bleeds free of charge.
  • How do I order multiple pieces?
    To keep things simple, please place a separate order for each different printed piece you want produced. For example, if you want 3 different 11x17 brochures, please place 3 orders. Obviously, the price for 3,000 of one brochure is not the same as the price for 1,000 each of 3 different brochures.
  • What kind of paper will my job be printed on?
    We have several paper types available, depending on what you are ordering.
  • How well will my job match what I see on my monitor?
    Most people are surprised at how well their job matches what they see. But because of wide differences in monitor calibration and the different technologies used, some printed colors may not exactly match the colors on your specific monitor.
  • Will you match a sample I print out on my own printer, or a previously printed sample?
    I.T.S offers fast turnaround and low pricing by printing to a "pleasing color" standard, using standard ink densities. Therefore, there is no guarantee that your finished piece will approximate your printed sample. This is due in part to the widely varying results from different output devices including inkjet and laser printers, continuous tone proofing devices, high-resolution film-based proofs, and different than true offset lithography. Even from one commercial printing firm to another, there can be significant differences in results. In particular, inkjet and laser prints are known to look substantially different than true offset lithography.

    If you require precise color match, please contact us to arrange for a digital color proof. Once you approve the additional fees, we will produce and send you a hard proof via overnight delivery. When you approve and return the proof, we will strive to match the color of the proof when printing your final piece.

    There are substantial additional charges for precise color match service. Also, if you request color correction or other changes after you see your proof, there will be another additional fee charged for color correction time and a new proof. Bottom line: the final product we produce for you is unlikely to match the output from your inkjet -- it will look more professional!
  • Is there a discount if I re-order my job?
    Yes, exact reprints will be charged $50 less. But notice how little additional copies cost. It's way cheaper to print a few extra the first time. To place a reprint order, simply go to the pricing and ordering page for the product you want, and enter the quantity and other specifications as usual. Enter in your billing and shipping information and we will post a proof for you to approve right away! (This guarantees that we are reprinting the job you want.)
  • How do I place an order and have my graphic designer upload my files separately?
    On placing an order, you will receive an order number and an email id to send your files, and press the send button, generation a confirmation including your order number. Kindly relay your order number to the designer and send an email at urooj@eureka-science.com or we will not be able to match your order.
  • How long does it take for me to get the proof of my job?
    Once you have placed your order, you should get it within 2-3 business days after we receive your electronic files.

    Most of the time, we ship you slightly more than you ordered, free of charge. On occasion, we ship slightly fewer pieces than you ordered. Printing industry trade standards allow for underages of up to 5%. If you plan to send your print order to a mailing list or need a guaranteed quantity, we recommend that you order 5% over the minimum quantity you need.
  • What if I want to change something on my order after I've placed it or approved the proof?
    We require an electronic "paper trail" for all changes made after your initial order is placed. You may make changes to such things as quantity, shipping method, or shipping address. Please note that some changes cannot be made after certain stages in the production process -- for instance, the quantity cannot be changed once your job has been printed.

    We are able to mail from our service location using our mail permit only. Mailing permits are tied to local USPS offices and may only be used in the locality where they are issued. If you'd like us to address your material and ship it to you, you could use your own permit and mail it from your location.
  • Can I send you documents created in MS Word or PowerPoint?
    Absolutely! If you have created documents in Word or PowerPoint that contain photos, clip-art, or other color images, send them in. Same great service, same great pricing.
  • What types of storage media do you accept?
    We can take any Mac or PC version of Quark, Pagemaker, InDesign, CorelDRAW!, Illustrator, Photoshop, Freehand, Publisher, Word, PowerPoint, any file output as a PDF , TIFF or JEPG.

  • What is the difference between the RGB and CMYK color space and why does it matter?
    RGB refers to the primary colors of light, Red, Green and Blue that are used in monitors, television screens, digital cameras and scanners. CMYK refers to the primary colors of pigment: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. These are the inks used on the press in "4-color process printing", commonly referred to as "full color printing".

    The combination of RGB light creates white, while the combination of CMYK inks creates black. Therefore, it is physically impossible for the printing press to exactly reproduce colors as we see them on our monitors.

    Many programs have the capability to convert the layout/images from the RGB color space to the CMYK color space. We request that you convert your colors from RGB to CMYK if your tools allow you to. By doing it yourself, you have maximum control over the results. You may notice a shift in color when converting from RGB to CMYK. If you do not like the appearance in CMYK, we recommend that you make adjustments while working in CMYK (usually lightening). Generally, you should specify CMYK color builds that look a little lighter than you want, since the dots of ink "fatten up" on press, giving you more pigment on paper than you see on your monitor. Be especially careful to keep backgrounds light if there is black or dark colored text over it, so that the text remains readable.
  • How can I know what a particular CMYK color combination will look like?
    Review a color guide with process colors with their CMYK screen percentages such as CreativePro.
  • If I'm sending a Publisher file, should I compress it with "Pack and Go," or should I just send the normal *.pub file?
    While we can work with either type, we prefer to get the normal, uncompressed file. Please do not use Publisher's "Pack and Go" feature. If you are sending Publisher files with linked graphics (generally NOT recommended in Publisher), please gather all the associated files into a single Zipped file, and send us that. Compressing files with Winzip or PK Zip (or StuffIt on the Mac) is also the preferred method for Quark, Pagemaker, Illustrator, InDesign or any file with linked graphics. If you are using a font that is not included with Publisher, please send it along with your Publisher file. You can either Zip them together, or upload the font as an additional file upload (or include it on CD or zip-disk if you are sending files via mail.).
  • How do I check for proper imposition or backup?
    "Imposition" and "backup" refer to how the front of a printed piece is oriented to the back. In the case of a brochure, you normally turn it over right-to-left (like you turn the page of a book) in order to have the back side read correctly -- not upside down. Seems simple, until you get to a postcard where one side is layed out in landscape (horizontal) orientation, and the other side in portrait (vertical) orientation. We use our best judgment when imposing a job, so that it backs up in the most natural or normal manner. Some designs, however, contain both portrait and landscape elements on both sides, making it difficult to make a clear call. When reviewing your proof online, we will always post the front and the back in the orientation that they will print in relation to each other. So, if page 2 appears upside down, that is how it will be printed on the back of page 1. (Some people want it that way, so that the recipient of the piece must turn it over top-to-bottom in order to read it correctly). Be sure to print out a copy of your online proof, and attach the two sides to each other to create a "mockup" or "dummy." This is especially important when a job will be folded.
  • How much bleed should I have for an envelope?
    1/16 inch is the correct amount since it will wrap a little to the back of the envelope.
  • Do I need to impose my business cards 8-up or 10-up if they will be printed more than 1 to a sheet?
    No, send us a single layout of your job unimposed, we will handle any imposition needed on our end.
  • How should I take pictures with my digital camera?
    Digital cameras are wonderful tools that allow us to capture our images in many different ways. The camera is designed to actually take three pictures; one in red, one in green and the other in blue (similar to the way a projection TV works). It then combines the colors together and saves the image onto the picture card. It is very important to make sure that the camera is set to the highest quality setting possible. This means that if you can only save one image on the picture card instead of 12, 64 or 128 images, then this is good! You want to create the best quality picture that the camera can make. This will mean large file sizes and slow downloads from the camera itself, but it will get you the best possible results from your camera. Remember, images should be at 300dpi in their final size in the layout!

    More often than not, we notice that images that come from digital cameras print darker than expected on the printing press. Check to see if you have a brightness option in your image editing program to lighten the entire piece. If you have the opportunity to change the color space from RGB (red, green, blue) to the printing press colors of CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black), then do so! It is always better to have you change the color space if you can, than for us to do it. Remember, not all colors that you can see that are created by elements of light (RGB) can be created by the elements of ink (CMYK) on press. If you do not have this capability with your software, do not worry about it, we will change it for you for free! Finally, we recommend that you apply a little sharpening to the image. This will make the image a little crisper and will print better on press.
  • How can I tell what resolution the image from my digital camera is?
    Some digital cameras will let you know what the image resolution is, while others will tell you what the pixel dimensions of your image are. If you know what the pixel dimensions of your images are either from the camera itself or through the image editing software, you can do a little math to determine the resolution, and the size you can print the image at for clear and crisp printing.

    Simply write down the pixel dimensions of your image and divide those numbers by 300 if the image does not include text and 400 if the image does include text. For example: An image without any text has a pixel dimension of 600 x 900 pixels. Once each dimension is divided by 300 the result is 2 x 3 inches. This means that you can use this image at 2 x 3 inches or smaller in your layout for quality printing results.

    If your image editing software does not tell you what the pixel dimensions are, but it does tell you what the resolution is, then you know the maximum size you can use that image in your layout. We recommend that images be at 300dpi in their final size in the layout and 400dpi if the images include text. Please keep in mind that resolution and physical dimensions are in direct proportion to each other. If you have an image that is 2x2 at 300dpi and increase its size in the layout to 4x4 the new resolution is now 150dpi. So remember, when you bring an image in to your layout you can shrink it down in size (because the resolution will increase) but you will be limited as to how far you can increase it in size.

  • How long will it take to upload my files?
    It will vary depending upon your file size, the speed of your Internet connection and the volume of Internet traffic at the time you send it.
  • Should I do anything special if I'm on AOL?
    If you use America Online (AOL) for your Internet connection, you should be aware that AOL can limit your inactivity on the Web and disconnect you from the Internet if you are not a current, active user. Uploading files appears to be inactivity to AOL. It is recommended that you keep your AOL email account open at the same time you are uploading your files. This can trick AOL programming into thinking you are still active on the Internet, thereby preventing the possibility of getting disconnected during your file upload.
  • I have a software package developed and I wrote a complete manual for it. Can you print this manual for me?

    Of course, we do.
  • Can I email you the files?
    Yes... and no. Our email server, like most email servers, is only capable of handling files of up to 2Mb per attachment. This is not normally going to provide prints of the best quality because any file of that size won't necessarily be of a high enough resolution. Exceptions to this rule are if the files are Vector based (Illustrator, CorelDraw etc) because Vector files will blow up to large sizes with no loss of quality... or if they are JPEGS. Although we can take JPEG files and generally they will print well enough, there is some chance, depending on compression levels, of 'noise' or presence of compression artifacts which may spoil the print when blown up to large sizes. You could send us a PDF too but be aware that the compression used in this format will sometimes cause similar noise problems. So... in summary, you can send your files by email but it's usually best if you plonk it on a disc.

    Is there anything I should know about file types and formats? Yes, it's fairly important that you send your images and files to us in CMYK (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Black) color mode instead of the default RGB (Red, Green, Blue). To the uninitiated, this may be as confusing as three legged underwear... but fear not, It's not as bad as it sounds, it's just that most scanners and probably all digital cameras will create images as RGB. You are probably already working with software like Adobe Photoshop or similar so it's easy enough to make the conversion with a few mouse clicks.

    Users of Adobe Photoshop LE/SE may not have the facility to make the conversion... please call for assistance.

    As far as file formats are concerned, just about anything goes. TIFF, EPS, CDR, PDF you name it! Be aware of the potential problems with the JPEG format, as described above, but apart from that we can accept formats created by all of the major software packages and most of the more obscure ones too! Again, feel free to call and ask if you have any questions.

    Essentially, all files should be 'print ready'. By this we mean that they must be in proportion, at a printable resolution and conform to the above criteria for color. Unfortunately due to workload, we're unable to carry out work on any files here unless agreed upon beforehand. We're more than happy to advise you on how to prepare your file though... just give us a call.
  • Is there a delivery charge?
    Yes, it's based on weight, postal code and number of prints. We'll advise you of cost when you ask for a quote.
  • What resolution should my images or files be?
    Regarding resolution, the general rule of thumb is the higher the resolution, the better the final print will be... in large prints however this can result in HUGE file sizes. Most printers would need to receive your image files at resolutions of 300 dpi (dots per inch) or more... an A1 file with these settings would be approximately 260 Mb. Yikes that is big! Instead, we can take files with lower resolutions and still print at very high quality. For example, you can provide us with an A1 image at only 150 dpi... and then the file size is only 66Mb. There would be no visible difference in output between this and a higher resolution file.

    If you don't have images that are physically the correct size, e.g. you work at A4 or A3 and other smaller sizes, but you still want large prints then don't worry... all you need to remember is that this can be adjusted, again, in Photoshop or similar software packages.
